Episode 16: Sweet Science
This week, we talk with Max Schachter about his son, Alex, who was killed in a February mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. Alex was a passionate UConn fan and dreamed of someday attending school here and playing in the marching band. Max tells us about his efforts to improve school safety around the country, the scholarship created in his son’s honor, and the tribute paid to Alex this month by the Pride of Connecticut, the UConn marching band. Also this week, Professor of History Alexis Dudden talks about new developments in the political situation on the Korean Peninsula, and Professor of Journalism Mike Stanton talks about his new biography of Rocky Marciano, the only heavyweight boxing champion to retire with an undefeated record.
